A wine refrigerator is an electrical appliance that uses the refrigeration process to help preserve food by keep them cool. A wine refrigerator is specifically meant to store wine at a predefined temperature. A wine refrigerator is typically larger than an electric wine cooler due to the mechanism involved in its design. Wine refrigerators are the easy solution for busy restaurants as they allow wines to be chilled to the optimal temperature at a quicker pace compared to ordinary freezers or refrigerators. Wine refrigerators are also designed to store and chill up to 240 wine bottles at one time evenly.
For most restaurants, a wine refrigerator is a cheaper solution to creating a wine cellar in the premises. The price of a wine refrigerator ranges according to the size. The biggest refrigerator that stores wines up to 240 bottles normally falls around $400 onwards depending on the features and brand name. It is also a safe solution where expensive wines can be stored without worrying the risk of theft. Generally, restaurant will get their wines directly from a wine merchant to be sold in a short timeframe and this allows restaurant owners the peace of mind knowing their investment is being kept safe and within easy access when demand is made for a particular vintage type.

Most wine refrigerators provide sliding trays or individual bottle compartments to allow easy access to the bottles without disturbing the rest of the bottles in storage and causing disturbance to the decanting process that is already under way.
